Malaysia Local Green Building Rating System

There are many Green Rating System implemented in Malaysia, however currently, there are three Malaysia Local Green Building rating system:-

  • Green Building Index  by Green Building Sdn Bhd
  • GreenPASS  by CIDB
  • pHJKR ( Penarafan Hijau JKR)

Green PASS is founded on the principle that a model standard must address building performance beyond those captured by rating systems or other evaluation guides, and therefore, it shall be  usable,  adoptable and stringent in making it an effective system for the construction industry.
Green PASS is founded on the principle that a model standard must address building performance beyond those captured by rating systems or other evaluation guides, and therefore, it shall be  usable,  adoptable and stringent in making it an effective system for the construction industry.

GreenPASS -
detail link
Green Performance Assessment System in Construction (abbreviated Green PASS) is designed to meet these needs through standard conformance that promote sustainable construction in an integrated manner with other Construction Industry Standard (CIS). It is an independent construction standard that assesses and rates the impact of building construction upon the environment.

Penarafan Hijau JKR (pHJKR)

Kriteria Perancangan & Pengurusan Tapak Lestari (TL), Kriteria Pengurusan Sumber & Bahan (SB), Kriteria Kecekapan Tenaga (KT), Kriteria Pengurusan Kualiti Persekitaran Dalaman (PD), Kriteria Pengurusan Kecekapan Penggunaan Air (PA), Kriteria Sustainble Site Planning and Management (SM), Kriteria Environment & Water (EW), Kriteria Access & Equity (AE), Kriteria Construction Activities (CA), Kriteria Material & Resourse (MR) dan Kriteria Pavement Technologies (PT).

GBI is private driven & initiative. The first local GB rating system.  Applied about the same style as LEED from US. According to GBI, they stated the 100 points rating earlier than LEED. More focus to Energy Efficient.

pHJKR currently apply for JKR and government building. The rating system is about the same with LEED, GBI style.

GreenPASS - standardized all green requirements to CO2 unit. Support PM commitment to reduce 40% carbon emission by 2020. It is an innovation in green building rating system. CIDB have done a comprehensive research and presented for comment from the world GB specialists.

Free Palestine , Gaza - Kadar Kelahiran melebihi Kadar Kematian

Terbunuh 1.000, Lahir 3.000 ...

Hilang seribu, tumbuh tiga ribu.

Japan earthquake - tsunami warning issued - Gempa Bumi di Jepun 7.3, Amaran Tsunami

A tsunami warning has been issued after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck off Japan's eastern coast.
Tokyo earthquake on NHK news
The epicentre of the quake was about 245km (150 miles) south-east of Kamiashi at a depth of about 36km, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake was felt in the capital Tokyo, media report.
The tsunami warning was issued for the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, which was hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
The US-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat to the wider Pacific Ocean but that a tsunami could be generated that was destructive for local coastlines.
Warnings of the tsunami height varied between 50cm and 2m.

Evacuations have been ordered from some of the affected areas.
A presenter on state broadcaster NHK told viewers: "Remember last year's quake and tsunami. Call on your neighbours and flee to higher ground now!"

Buildings were reported to have swayed violently in Tokyo.
The 9.0 magnitude quake that struck on 11 March 2011 left more than 15,000 people dead and more than 3,200 missing.
That quake triggered a meltdown of fuel rods at the Fukushima nuclear plant, causing radiation leaks and mass evacuations.
The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power, told Agence France-Presse there were no reports of problems there this time.

PHILIPPINE TYPHOON - ABOUT 350 DIE, 400 MISSING

ABOUT 350 DIE IN PHILIPPINE TYPHOON, 400 MISSING

A powerful typhoon that washed away emergency shelters, a military camp and possibly entire families in the southern Philippines has killed almost 350 people with nearly 400 missing, authorities said Thursday.
Nearly 200,000 people are homeless and more than 300 dead after the Philippines suffered its worst typhoon this year, authorities said Thursday, reaching out for international aid to cope with the scale of the disaster.

Typhoon Bopha ploughed across the major southern island of Mindanao on Tuesday, flattening nearly everything across its 700-kilometre (435-mile) wide path with a blend of hurricane-force winds, floods and landslides.

Civil defence chief Benito Ramos said the government priority was to find 379 people still missing and to build temporary shelters for more than 179,000 others who have been packed into schools and government buildings for now.

"There is no time limit -- as long as it takes," he told reporters when asked when the government planned to end the search for the missing.

"We need tents to decongest the evacuation centres," Ramos added.

Shell-shocked survivors have been scrabbling through the rubble of their homes to find anything that can be recovered, as relatives search for missing family members among mud-caked bodies laid out in rows on tarpaulins.

Ramos said 325 people were confirmed dead and 411 others injured from the strongest cyclone to reach the Philippines this year. The United States offered aid to the developing country, which is wearily familiar with natural disasters.
Deputy State Department spokesman Mark Toner said Washington offered its sympathies both for the Philippines and over damage caused to the island state of Palau as Bopha swept across the Pacific this week.

"Our embassies in Manila and Koror (Palau) have offered immediate disaster relief assistance, and we are working closely with authorities in both countries to offer additional assistance as needed," he said.

The Philippine government said typhoon gusts of up to 210 kilometres (130 miles) an hour had destroyed thousands of homes and other buildings, leaving residents with little more than the clothes on their backs.

Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman said the government had sought help from the Swiss-based International Organisation for Migration to build temporary shelters for Bopha survivors.

"The priority is to build bunkhouses so that there will be shelter for them," he said on ABS-CBN television Thursday.

President Benigno Aquino has sent navy ships with food and other supplies to 150,000 people on Mindanao's east coast where three towns remain cut off by landslides and wrecked bridges.

Officials said many of the Mindanao victims were poor migrants who have flocked by the thousands to mountainous, landslide-prone sites like the towns of New Bataan and Monkayo to work at unregulated, small-scale gold mines.

Those two towns alone accounted for half of the deaths, the civil defence office said.

Environment Secretary Ramon Paje said the national government had already declared many of these sites unsafe for human habitation due to deadly landslides that frequently hit the mines and nearby communities.

However, local authorities continue to issue mining permits and have proven unable to stem the growth of settlements on mountainsides and river valleys, he said on ABS-CBN.

"The local government must have the political will so that in the worst-case scenario, people in permanent danger zones must be forcibly evacuated," Paje said.

He said this policy had already been successfully adopted by Albay, a province southeast of Manila that is frequently hit with storms and volcanic eruptions.

"If you refuse to leave, the governor would arrive at your doorstep with the army and put you on board a military truck," Paje said
