| Ar. BOON CHE WEE Member (Chair)
Ar Boon Che Wee (APAM, RIBA, AIPDM, APEC Architect, ASEAN Architect) was elected as the President of Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) in August 2009 and in this position, chairs Green Building Index (GBI) and Architect Centre, a PAM subsidiary that provides building advisory and inspection service to the public.
An avowed advocate of green and design as the combined key differentiator in national competitiveness, he has led the Institute on a series of strategic engagement with the Government to extend the reach of the Institute’s industry-wide initiatives in these areas, and speaks often on these subjects in Malaysia and internationally.
Ar Boon Che Wee graduated from the University of Melbourne with both a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons.) and Bachelor of Planning & Design. He is a Professional Architect and a director of GRA Architects based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

| Ar. DR TAN LOKE MUN Member
Ar Dr Tan Loke Mun is a Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and also a board member of the Board of Architects Malaysia. Ar Dr Tan is the Chairman of the PAM Sustainability Committee responsible for the development of the GBI and also a pro-tem member of the Malaysian Green Building Council (MGBC).
Ar Dr Tan Loke Mun is a senior practicing Architect and Director of ArchiCentre Sdn Bhd, an architectural design company established in 1994. ArchiCentre’s architecture embraces and interprets regionalism in a modern tropical context. Often working from the basis of typologies, ArchiCentre has managed to interpret and translate simple regional metaphors into its increasingly green architecture.
Ar Dr Tan obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) and Bachelor of Architecture (1st Class Hons) from Deakin University and later his doctorate from the University of Melbourne. Ar Dr Tan has served in many committees and working groups ranging from professional education, CPD, technology, professional practice, competitions, awards and design. |
| Ir. CHEN THIAM LEONG Member
Ir. Chen Thiam Leong is a Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), the Institution of Fire Engineers Malaysia (IFEM) and the Malaysian Chapter of ASHRAE. He is also a pro-tem member of the Malaysian Green Building Council (MGBC).
Ir. Chen is a senior practicing Mechanical Engineer and is the Managing Director of Primetech Engineers Sdn Bhd, an Engineering Consultancy Practice based in Kuala Lumpur. Notable projects include the New Securities Commission HQ which was Malaysia’s first winner of the ASEAN Energy Award where he introduced the concept of totally ductless and uninsulated floor plenum for comfort air-conditioning exceeding 600 sq.m. per zone.
Ir. Chen graduated from the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1st Class Hons). He has been involved in Energy Efficiency designs since the early 80s and lectures in the international circuit on the subjects of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer. Ir. Chen also specialises in Energy and Fire & Life Safety audits.
Ir. Chen sat in the SIRIM Working Committee on MS1525:2001 and 2007, and was involved in the National Steering Committees on Energy, Ozone Depleting Substances and Building Integrated Photo Voltaics. Ir. Chen was also involved in developing Malaysian Standards such as Smoke Control, Pressurisation and Raised Floors; as well as the Guide to Fire Protection in Malaysia. His technical papers are regularly featured in local technical journals.

| Ar. CHAN SEONG AUN Member
Ar Chan Seong Aun is a senior practicing Architect and Director of Arkitek Daya Seni Sdn Bhd, an architectural firm established in 1985.
Ar Chan Seong Aun graduated with a B Arch (Hons) and M Arch (Distinction) from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His interest in Low Energy Architecture started in the early 1980s when he was offered a grant to carry out research on the energy requirements of New Zealand schools which led to his submitting a thesis for his Master of Architecture. Since then he has continued to develop and promote energy conservation for building projects.
Ar Chan was a member of the SIRIM Working Committee that updated MS1525:2001 to its latest 2007 version. He was also the PAM representative on the CIDB Working Committee that updated QLASSIC to CIS7:2006 its 2006 version. He has represented PAM in various committees in KPKT, KTAK and SIRIM. Ar Chan Seong Aun has been a PAM Council member from 2004 to 2009. Ar Chan is the co-chairman of the PAM Sustainability Committee that developed the GBI and is also the pro-tem Hon. Secretary of the Malaysian Green Building Council (MGBC).

| Ir. LOOI HIP PEU Member
Ir Looi Hip Peu graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) (Electrical) from the University of Malaya in 1979. He is currently the Hon. Secretary (2010-2011) of ACEM and Vice-President of the Malaysian Green Building Confederation (MGBC) (2010-2011).
Ir Looi is the Managing Director of Mektricon Utara Sdn Bhd, an engineering consulting firm with 30 years experience in the industry. He has been involved in the design of a wide range of projects from bungalows, townships, commercial complex and mega-sized factories in Malaysia, ASEAN, China and Africa regions. Currently Ir HP Looi specialises in complete plant process and design.
Ir Looi is an active member of the engineering community and serves in various technical committees; such as ‘Industry Standard Committee E1’, TC10 (wiring installation), TC Lighting, TC 7 (LV Sw. Gr.), TC ExA etc. He is also a member of various national-level workgroups on energy efficiency and sustainability. Currently Ir Looi maintains interest in (i.e. lectures and publishes) on the following topics such as “Wiring Standards”, “Professional Practice”, “Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency”, “Globalisation & Engineering Services” etc. |
| Ar. SERINA HIJJAS Member
Ar Serina Hijjas is a senior practicing Architect and Director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn, an architectural practice based in Kuala Lumpur. Ar Serina graduated from Bartlett School of Architecture and University of Sydney followed by a three year working stint with Foster & Partners.
Ar Serina has been practicing for 20 years with an active interest in the area of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability and has received three Asean Energy Efficiency Awards for Telekom Malaysia Headquarters Building (2005), Securities Commission HQ (2003) and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
Ar Serina was on the first SIRIM Working Committee for MS1525:2001 and is a member of the PAM Sustainability Committee. |
| Ir. WONG SHU LEONG Member
Ir Wong Shu Leong is a Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Malaysia (ACEM). Ir Wong graduated from University of Singapore and had worked in Singapore Public Utilities Board before joining Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd in 1979. He became Managing Director of SSP (E&M) Sdn Bhd an Electrical & Mechanical practice since 1991. His company has been involved in many large projects in the country such as airports, ports, railway, water & sewage treatment plants, toll & traffic surveillance systems, industrial complexes, high end condominiums, office towers, convention centres, hospitals, retail malls and universities/training centres.
Ir Wong is actively serving in many technical committees and working groups in ACEM, BEM, CIDB and SIRIM. He sat in the SIRIM Working Committee on MS 1525:2001 and was the Chairman of the Strategic Trust Working Group on Technology, Knowledge and Research & Development, CIDB Master Plan (2004), Chairman of Dry Fire Technical Committee (SIRIM), Chairman of WG on Lightning Protection (SIRIM), member of Industry Standard Committee on Fire and member of National Accreditation Committee (Department of Standards).
Ir Wong is a regular lecturer for ACEM Induction course for young graduates on electrical systems. |
| Ar. VON KOK LEONG Member
Ar Von Kok Leong is a Director at Arkitek MAA Sdn Bhd. His initial interest in sustainable design started in mid 1990s when he was the design and project architect for a housing development in Melbourne, where the site had to be de-contaminated after many decades of industrial usage, before it was allowed to be used for housing.
He is currently the Project Director for a high rise commercial development in KL where it aims to achieve a LEED Gold Rating.
Ar Von graduated from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and has worked in New Zealand, Singapore and Australia. He is a member of PAM’s Sustainability Committee, and also a member of MGBC’s pro-tem committee. He has presented a number of lectures on MS1525:2007 recently. |
| Ir. WONG SEE FOONG Member
Ir Wong See Foong graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malaya in 1974 and has been involved in building services engineering over the past 38 years. He is a professional engineer registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia and is presently a partner of MEP Engineering Sdn Bhd, a mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy practice.
Ir Wong is presently the Deputy President of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Malaysia (ACEM) and represents the association on issues related to building regulations, fire safety and professional practice. He is also a Past President of the Institution of Fire Engineers (U.K.) Malaysia Branch (IFEM), serving in IFEM’s Council since 1997. Under the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, he was the Chairman of the Fire Advisory Board and has been closely involved with the Fire and Rescue Department to resolve issues faced by the various professional institutions and associations.
Ir Wong is also the Chairman of the Technical Committee for Wet Fire Protection Systems in SIRIM for the drafting of Malaysian standards for active wet fire safety systems.
