CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY STANDARD (CIS) 19 : 2012 GREEN PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM IN CONSTRUCTION (Green PASS).
Malaysia will have a new green rating system which will call Green PASS.
THE DRAFT OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY STANDARD (CIS) WAS OPEN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT between 01st January 2012 – 31st January 2012
Description of Green PASS
Green Performance Assessment System in Construction (abbreviated Green PASS) is designed to meet these needs through standard conformance that promote sustainable construction in an integrated manner with other Construction Industry Standard (CIS). It is an independent construction standard that assesses and rates the impact of building construction upon the environment.
Green PASS is founded on the principle that a model standard must address building performance beyond those captured by rating systems or other evaluation guides, and therefore, it shall be usable, adoptable and stringent in making it an effective system for the construction industry.
Mygreentech: I like this quote ," beyond those captured by rating systems or other evaluation guides".
I am wondering what will happen to Malaysia GBI. In comparison GBI is an industry driven, whereas Green PASS is a government or authority driven. If the same initiative offer for both Green Rating or the Green PASS will be given more priority.
Green PASS estimates the carbon emissions from building construction works throughout a building’s life cycle. The building life cycle defined within this standard covers pre, during and post construction stages, with carbon emissions divided into embodied carbon and operational carbon. These provisions are applicable to new and existing buildings.
Embodied carbon is referred to as CO2 emitted throughout the pre and during construction stages. Operational carbon is CO2 emitted throughout the post construction stage to the end of life of any building.
The Certification level will be named as
Diamond Rating.
A bonus rating designed + in addition to the diamond rating in shall be awarded to for projects using IBS, SHASSIC and QLASSIC.
