230% energy efficient LEDs - Seem to violate first law of thermodynamics
Physicists hell-bent on destroying the universe have come up with a tiny LED that produces 69 Pico watts of light while using just 30 Pico watts of power. That’s an efficiency of above 100%, which should be impossible, but isn’t. And in other breaking news, up is down; black is white and zebras looking the same.
Last week, physicists from MIT published a paper in Physical Review Letters entitled “Thermoelectrically Pumped Light-Emitting Diodes Operating above Unity Efficiency.” My guess is that most physicists cringe a little bit when they see the phrase “above unity,” because that’s another way of saying either “perpetual motion machine” or “free energy,” both of which are likely to get you branded as either an eccentric (if you’re lucky) or a total crackpot (if you’re not).
Over-unity machines may be impossible, but the LED in this paper definitely put out more than twice as much energy in the form of photons as the researchers fed it in the form of electrons. They found that as they decreased the electrical voltage that went into the LED, the emitted light decreased by a direct proportion, while the input power decreased exponentially. In other words, the less power you put into an LED, the more efficient it gets at producing light, and if you decrease the power enough, you can blow right past the 100% efficiency mark.
So, how does this not totally and completely invalidate the conservation of energy? We have to look at how energy flows through the entire system, not just at the electricity in and light out. When the LED gets more than 100% electrically efficient, it starts to cool itself down, which is another way of saying that it’s stealing energy (in the form of heat) from its environment and converting that heat into those over-unity photons.
This cooling effect has some interesting implications for low-power electronics, but most importantly, we can all rest just a little bit easier knowing that the basic physical rules that frame our perception of the universe have survived for one more day.
IPHONE 5 - LiquidMetal
Just a week ago, we took a look at the iPhone Plus — the best iPhone 5 concept we have seen to date. And now, a new LiquidMetal concept has reached the web.
This iPhone concept has really a slick and smart feel on the first look. It is supposed to made of a special material known as LiquidMetal, a mix of several different metals. LiquidMetal not only makes the phone more durable, but also makes it look beautiful.
The general specs of this concept include a 4 inch screen with a 10 Mp camera, and a very high-end 5 Mp front facing camera, which will really be more than capable of taking self-portraits, as well as for video-chatting. The full specs of the LiquidMetal made iPhone are,
- 4 Inch screen
- Only 7 mm thick
- 10 Mp camera (rear)
- 5 Mp camera (front)
- Faster processor (probably the rumored Quad-Core A6)
- Quad speakers
- NFC chip
- Virtual Home Button
- Embedded Sim card
- And ofcourse, the LiquidMetal casing around the iPhone
Though we still consider the iPhone Plus better than this with the pico projector and the rear motion sensor, but we surely won’t be disappointed if Apple turns out with an iPhone 5 like this.
Because the liquid metal casing looks simply gorgeous, and this concept is so unbelievably thin at just 7mm that it would make even the recently released Samsung Galaxy S III (8.6 mm thick) look like it needs a bit of exercise.
You can have a look at some photos of this LiquidMetal concept below,
Conclusion: This LiquidMetal concept definitely needs to be cosidered by those Apple designers.

i raya
[Al-Bukhari: 986]
Dikatakan terdapat beberapa hikmah dalam perbuatan ini;
ii Untuk menzahirkan syiar-syiar Islam.
iii. Untuk menzahirkan zikir kepada Allah SWT.
iv.
Para ulama berbeza pendapat tentang hukum solat hari raya.
“Aku menyaksikan Rasulullah SAW menunaikan solat hari raya sebelum khutbah, kemudian baginda berkhutbah.”
Nabi SAW menyuruh membayar zakat al-Fitr sebelum solat hari raya.

COMPULSARY RATING..Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) will soon introduce a Green PASS rating to contractors and developers in the country.
COMPULSARY
RATING..Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) will
soon introduce a Green PASS rating to contractors and developers in the
country.
KUALA
LUMPUR - Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) will
soon introduce a Green PASS rating to contractors and developers in the
country.
"Green
PASS is an assessment that measures the actual impact of the quantity
of greenhouse gas (GHG) by released by building to the environment.
"This evaluation will be done in two phases: construction phase and operational phase of the building.
"For
the construction phase it contains five elements, namely assessment of
the construction site, building materials, energy, water and waste.
"As
for the operational phase of building the three elements that are
assessed include building indoor environmental quality (IEQ), energy and
water," she said.
Esmaria
said this when presenting a paperwork on Green Pass evaluation to over
80 leading local construction industry in the capital recently.
However,
she said, for the Green PASS evaluation in the construction phase, the
evaluation can only be done once while in the building operation phase,
the assessment will be done after the building is completed and occupied
by at least 70 percent of the residents.
"Green
PASS Rating will be the yardstick used to measure the ability of
contractors to produce quality construction," she told the National
Construction Portal, 1BINA.my.
It
is learned that the database of Green PASS evaluation is borrowed from
the United Kingdom which acts as a baseline to measure the conservation
of buildings that is under construction or already completed.
Even so, Emasria says that Malaysia will build its own database as it is a dynamic data collection and not rigid.
"For
example, if the study found that current energy consumption baseline is
100 kilowatt per meter and found the building in Green PASS assessment
process uses only 70 kilowatts per meter which is a saving of 30 percent
sure this data will be stored as a reference at any time.
"This
is because the saving was calculated using carbon calculator and will
be monitored from time to time for record and reference," she said.
Emasria
also added that, in that particular case, contractors and developers
are eligible for a diamond bonus in scoring if they uses Quality
Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) and Safety and Health
Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC) for their construction
projects.
In
the meantime, CIDB previously issued the Construction Industry Standard
CIS 19:2012 Draft and requested the public to provide feedback on the
Green Performance Assessment System in Construction (Green PASS) draft.
By
July, CIDB will work with the Malaysian Green Tech Corporation (MGTC)
and several government agencies to test the effectiveness of the Green
PASS assessment to construction projects in Malaysia through a pilot
project that has been agreed.
Report of the National Construction Portal, 1BINA on Green PASS can be found in http://www.1bina.my/blog/2011/12/01/konsep-bangunan-hijau-sahut-polisi-kerajaan and http://1bina.my/ blog/2012/01/16/draf-cis-19-2012-untuk-komen-umum

Fusion Power - Fusion For Energy
Fusion power is the power generated by nuclear fusion processes. In fusion reactions two light atomic nuclei fuse together to form a heavier nucleus (in contrast with fission power). In doing so they release a comparatively large amount of energy arising from the binding energy due to the strong nuclear force which is manifested as an increase intemperature of the reactants. Fusion power is a primary area of research in plasma physics.
The term is commonly used to refer to potential commercial production of net usable power from a fusion source, similar to the usage of the term "steam power." The leading designs for controlled fusion research use magnetic (tokamak design) or inertial (laser) confinement of a plasma, with heat from the fusion reactions used to operate a steam turbine which in turn drives electrical generators, similar to the process used in fossil fuel and nuclear fission power stations.
Despite being technically non-renewable, fusion power has many of the benefits of renewable energy sources (such as being a long-term energy supply and emitting no greenhouse gases) as well as some of the benefits of the resource-limited energy sources as hydrocarbons and nuclear fission (without reprocessing). Like these currently dominant energy sources, fusion could provide very high power-generation density and uninterrupted power delivery (due to the fact that it is not dependent on the weather, unlike wind and solar power).

KESAN BURUK PENGGUNAAN MINYAK MASAK BERULANG KALI
Hampir 40,000kg minyak masak bernilai RM200,000 dirampas.
